"Each person in this world lives not as a simple man alone but as a special one. Someone who will do things that are meant to be done not for oneself only, but for others as well."
Years back, there is this question that whenever I am asked of, I usually have a hard time answering. That question is: "What is your mission in life?" You wonder why? It is because by that time, I couldn't think of any concrete reason why I live in this world. Sometimes, I even ask God, "Why do I live? What's my purpose in this world?"
One day, I asked Him to enlighten me, to give me even a simple hint that would lead me to the answers of my whys and whats. Sunday morning, just an ordinary day, I went to church with pals. By the time I sat, the priest started preaching His words. I thought that the mass would just end like any other ordinary mass but I was wrong. I found myself in to the preach.
"Let us relive the commandments of God. You, children, should be a shepherd of goodness. First of all, obey your parents. Make them happy and let them feel what you want them to feel. Love them, care for them, for our life here on Earth is limited. Anytime, you might not be able to see them again. Second, love your neighbor as you love yourself. Don't allow yourself to lose your friends and loved ones. Treat them the way you want to be treated for they are your treasure. Last but the most important, love God above all. God is our Father. He created you, he let you experience how beautiful our world is. He sacrificed His son for your salvation. He loves you eternally. HE IS YOUR EVERYTHING. Without Him, you are nothing. Spread the good word and be a good son of our Father.", the priest said.
It punched my heart. I thought of it as the Lord's answers to my confusions. Those are my missions. Since then, I never fail to work them out. Each and everyday, I make it a point that I should never let my parents down, that I should love them so much. In all the ways that I can, I communicate with them even though we are far from each other. From that day also, I treat everyone as if they are my brothers and sisters and the thing that I am happy the most of is that I am trying to do my best to be a good child of God; letting Him be my tour guide. I take each and every challenge He gives and face it with all my might. I submit myself to Him because I know that he knows what's best for me.
After all the realizations, I don't want to go back to being clueless of what you really need to do in this world because I am afraid to reach the point that I have done NOTHING. Maybe, other people say that the things I consider my missions are too small for something like it, simple and funny but I do not care. At least, I know for myself that once and for all, I have never been a worthless mortal. Despite the size of my mission, I am still proud of it.
In the complexity of our world today, we are usually blinded. We do not know already which is which. If I were you, I would love to explore things. Let us dig deeper through them. Just like me, I was able to find big things in small packages, so you can, too! Never ignore things before it's too late, before regret is the only choice left. Maybe you don't know, the things you ignored before, is your sole key to HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT.
